Remote Key Fob Repair
Modern vehicles are equipped with a remote key fob that can be used to lock, unlock and start the vehicle. However, as with any piece of high-tech equipment it isn't without problems.
These are usually very easy to repair. It's as simple as resetting it which you should be able do by following the instructions for resetting in your owner's manual.
Check the Battery
The remote control is powered by the battery that is in a key fob. The battery is a tiny, inexpensive part that needs to be replaced regularly in order to maintain the function of the device. There are a variety of reasons your key fob might not be functioning properly, besides the battery. Physical damage, water exposure or internal component malfunction could be the reason. Whatever the cause when your key fob's sensor is not responding and is not responding, it's time for a replacement battery.
First, ensure you have the correct size battery. The majority of modern key fobs are powered by a three-volt CR2032 that is readily available in a wide range of stores. The majority of these batteries are stamped with the size on one of the edges of the fob. A quick search for the name of your vehicle's brand should help you locate the exact type of battery it takes.

Check the Casing

It's important to know that you can save a key fob from destruction by following a couple of simple steps and thoroughly drying it.
The first step is to make sure the buttons are working correctly. This usually involves taking out the buttons, cleaning them and rebuilding them. If the buttons aren't functioning or pop in, it may be time to replace your remote.
You'll also want to check the case to ensure nothing is interfering with the function of the key fob. Remove the case using tweezers and take out the battery. Don't disassemble the circuit board or antennas. If you damage the circuits that keep your key fob programmed, you will need to visit an Interstate All Battery Center or dealer to reprogram it.
After you've removed and replaced the battery, it's a good idea to dry out the fob by placing it in a plastic bag containing silica gel packs or other desiccating agent. This will avoid future moisture problems and will make your key fob more durable.

Check the Connections
Your key fob may not function, even though it's programmed to work for your vehicle. This could be due to a variety of reasons, including broken battery terminal contacts or buttons. If this is the case, you may be able to fix it yourself by performing basic maintenance.
